It seems a long time ago that the gloves were put away and online training and restrictions were put in their place. But now it is time to dust off the gloves and get back on the mat.
Sparring is an important training tool as it enables us to learn and improve our understanding of distance, timing, footwork, balance, control and many other elements of Jado Kuin Do. It is also great for our fitness!
To join in with sparring you will need to be at least a White Belt or above and have WJO approved safety equipment. There are 2 options. Hands only sparring where a gumshield, headguard and gloves*1 are required, or full sparring where Shin, foot and groin protectors are also needed. For gradings the junior syllabus is graded with Hands only sparring whereas the Adults will be full sparring kit*2. All the equipment is available via the online shop except for the gumshield. Self moulding gumshields are available from sports shops or your you may want to ask your dentist.
More information on sparring kit can be found on this article on the main Jado website – Sparring Kit
*1 sports mitts for the juniors and boxing gloves for the Adults
*2 Adults may practice Hands only sparring in class, however, when grading a full sparring kit will be required. Hands only sparring is a great way to start your sparring journey
Four weeks of online sessions which will introduce new students to the basics of Jado Kuin Do, preparing them to join our main classes. These will either be online or face to face depending on the Covid restrictions at the time. The 30 minute sessions will consist of techniques, fitness, movement and much more, all designed to be suitable for training at home.
Students will also be able to access videos via google classroom to help them practice in their own time.
Any students that sign up for the main classes after the 4 weeks course will be entitled to a 50% discount for the first months training. To be able to join in with the main class each student needs to be licenced which will be £30 for a single student and £52.50 for a family licence for up to 3 students.

We will be taking part in the annual Christmas Jumper Day again this year.
Please wear you Jumpers to the classes listed below and don’t forget to donate using the link below to Just Giving. This will help us to continue to fund raise and also keep our distance while donating. We have always been very generous with this charity and activity so thank you for all your efforts with this in the past and thanks in advance for this year.
Even though our students are not able to attend physical classes at the moment they are still showing the quality of character to continue to train at home, either via online sessions, training using videos or both. We couldn’t be more proud of you all, especially those training towards black belts this year. Classes will resume at some point in time and we will be ready when the time comes. We are taking on new students as well and finding the training works well with the combination of videos and online lessons. Thank you to all those who have joined us at this time. If you some free time and are interested in getting started now please do get in touch. If you don’t have too much free time then this might also be a great way to train as you can chose when to do your online training, day or night!
It’s back! The free uniform (Gi) offer for Adults signing up in March is back in the Oxfordshire area. All you need to do to claim this offer is to book your free trial lesson, attend the lesson and then sign up as a student.
So, why should you join as an Adult? The answer is simple. You will enjoy the same benefits as the kids, improved self defence, self awareness, fitness and confidence as well as being part of a friendly group of like minding people with the same goals. By the way, you are never too old!
